The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine is expanding! As a result, we are recruiting for multiple new positions, including clinical and teaching faculty to work in our inpatient and crisis center settings. These positions are in response to a recent expansion in psychiatric services in our facilities. The Medical Center underwent significant capital improvement and expansion with the building of a modern inpatient and outpatient psychiatric facility. In addition to two 24-bed general adult inpatient units, the hospital has an 18-bed geriatric psychiatry unit and outpatient clinic. The Crisis Response Center is new facility adjacent to the hospital, which provides psychiatric emergency care for adults and children in crisis. The facility offers triage, observation, and subacute levels of service, as well as a crisis line and mobile assessment teams.

Our program is deeply invested in serving the community and working in partnership with the public mental health system, law enforcement, and the county. The hospital is the site for involuntary treatment hearings and is a designated evaluation agency for civil commitment. The Crisis Response Center has developed strong partnerships with law enforcement to divert patients away from incarceration and toward appropriate mental health treatment. Both facilities promote a team approach to care with strong involvement from social work, crisis workers, therapists, community agency staff, and peers.
