Leo was originally born and raised in Long Island New York. Moved to Mississippi in his formative years and finished High School in Raymond Mississippi. Attended Hinds Community College and received an Associate in Applied Science in 1985. He attended the University of Mississippi Medical Center and received Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1988. Worked in various psychiatric settings such as pediatric, Geriatric, Alcohol and Drug, Acute psychiatry and ECT for greater than twenty years. Leo then attended Alcorn State University and received a Masters of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2013. He worked in correctional medicine for two years then attended the University of Mississippi Medical Center and received a Masters as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Moved to Tucson, Arizona in September of 2016 and worked at the Tucson State Prison.
Leo conducted research on the registered nurses perception of personal safety and self-confidence to manage aggressive behavior in an acute central Mississippi psychiatric setting.
He also attends annual research and evidence based practice symposiums APNA (American Psychiatric nurses Association) Annual Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. October 18-21, 2017
