Xylazine: Current trends and clinical pearls

Learning Objectives:
- Articulate the trends and epidemiology of the prevalence of xylazine dependence.
- Articulate the historical concepts of adulterants in illicit substances.
- Apply pharmacological interventions to provide medical management of xylazine withdrawal.
- Identify xylazine wounds and current ideas around management of wounds.
- Identify how to apply harm reduction strategies to management of patients with xylazine dependence and opioid use disorder (OUD).
The educational objective for the Addiction Medicine Grand Rounds is to provide health professionals with updates on addiction topics with the goals of increasing knowledge, competence, and patient care. The Addiction Medicine Lecture series is held monthly on a Thursday from 12 to 1 p.m. Be sure to log into your CME account and complete the evaluation to receive credit.
