Learning Objectives:
- Describe the state of the science on AA, SMART Recovery, cost-effectiveness
- Name 3 major therapeutic mechanisms through which AA has been shown to confer recovery benefits and how these may be similar for other mutual-help organizations
- Discuss how AA can work differently for different people despite conferring similar magnitude benefit
- Understand the mechanisms by which AA, SMART Recovery and other mutual-help and peer support programs work
The educational objective for the Addiction Medicine Grand Rounds is to provide health professionals with updates on addiction topics with the goals of increasing knowledge, competence, and patient care. The Addiction Medicine Lecture series is held monthly on a Thursday from 12 to 1 p.m.
