Parkinson’s Disease – A Complex Neuropsychiatric Condition

Learning Objectives:
- Review the diagnostic criteria, clinical trajectory, and basic pathological features of Parkinson’s disease.
- Discuss the most common psychiatric disorders and the best evidence treatments for these disorders when they occur in people with Parkinson’s disease.
- Briefly review the Lewy body dementias, Dementia with Lewy Bodies and Parkinson’s disease dementia, and the best evidence treatments.
The educational objective for Psychiatry Grand Rounds is to provide mental health professionals with updates on psychiatric topics with the goals of increasing knowledge, competence, and patient care. Psychiatry Grand Rounds are held on Wednesdays (September-May) from 12 to 1 p.m. Be sure to log into your CME account and complete the evaluation to receive credit.
