Placebo Effect and Clinical Practice

At the end of this presentation, attendees should be able to:

  1. Define the placebo effect and common associated terminology
  2. Understand some of the proposed mechanisms contributing to the placebo effect
  3. Review how the patient-doctor relationship can impact the placebo effect
  4. Introduce the concept of therapeutic contextual healing

The educational objective for Psychiatry Grand Rounds is to provide mental health professionals with updates on psychiatric topics with the goals of increasing knowledge, competence, and patient care. Psychiatry Grand Rounds are held every Wednesday (September-May) from 12 to 1 p.m.
