Reconsolidation? Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Just Perform a Propranolol-Assisted Trauma Technique

Learning Objectives:

  1. Be aware of trauma-related disorders and  Prolonged Grief Disorder criteria (DSM-V-TR)
  2. Understand how conditioning relates to trauma
  3. Be able to describe the difference between memory consolidation and reconsolidation
  4. Explore literature on interfering with the consolidation and reconsolidation processes
  5. Understand how propranolol has been used in trauma-related disorder studies

The educational objective for Psychiatry Grand Rounds is to provide mental health professionals with updates on psychiatric topics with the goals of increasing knowledge, competence, and patient care. Psychiatry Grand Rounds are held on Wednesdays (September-May) from 12 to 1 p.m.
