Learning Objectives for "Affective Agnosia: A New Approach to Understanding Impairments in Mental Representation of Emotion and Their Treatment"
In relation to the goal of ultimately improving patient care, participants will be able to:

1.  Appreciate the strengths and limitations of the leading measure of alexithymia.
2.  Describe the distinction between anomia and agnosia and how it applies to emotion.
3.  Explain the role of the medial prefrontal cortex in the neural model of affective agnosia.
4.  Understand the treatment implications of the model including the importance of mentalizing.

The objective of the Psychiatry Grand Rounds series is to provide mental health professionals with updates on a variety of psychiatric topics with the goals of increasing knowledge, competence, and patient care.
