Advancing Self-Care Competencies: Barriers, Ethical Obligations, and Evidence-Based Interventions

Learning Outcomes:
- Identify common systemic, interpersonal, and individual barriers to implementing self-care practices for both patients and practitioners, and analyze how these barriers impact treatment engagement and clinician well-being.
- Explain evidence-based mechanisms through which self-care practices support mental health, and articulate the ethical principles (e.g., competence, nonmaleficence, professional responsibility) that make practitioner self-care an essential component of ethical clinical practice.
- Demonstrate the ability to deliver a brief, psychoeducational self-care intervention— applying its core components with patients— and practice the same strategies for sustaining one's own professional well-being.
