Learning Objectives
At the end of this presentation, attendees should be able to:
- Review trauma disorders and trauma epidemiology
- Understand trauma response and physiology of trauma
- Recognize role of somatic therapy in treating trauma disorders
- Understand fundamentals of EMDR and Somatic Experiencing (SE) to extent that you feel confident prescribing these therapies
- Discuss current research and guidelines on EMDR and SE; Explore future research needs
The educational objective for Psychiatry Grand Rounds is to provide mental health professionals with updates on psychiatric topics with the goals of increasing knowledge, competence, and patient care. Psychiatry Grand Rounds are held every Wednesday (September-May) from 12 to 1 p.m.
