2013 NAMI Walk was a Success!

Each year our department takes part in the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) special event, NAMIWalks. NAMIWalks - Changing Minds...One Step At a Time is an awareness-raising program of NAMI. Launched in 2003 with 12 pilot states, the NAMIWalks program has grown to include over 83 sites across 45 states.

This annual event is held at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium next to our South Campus and Behavioral Health Pavilion in April.

NAMI is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness. For more information about our local NAMI affiliate, visit www.NAMIsa.org.

This year, the UA Psychiatry team raised over $3,100 towards the cause!

All proceeds from NAMIWalks are used to fund NAMI's programs, which include support, education, advocacy, and the encouragement of research involving mental illnesses. We anticipate the continued growth of NAMIWalks in the years to come.
