Jamie L. Manser, BA

Manager, Program Innovation and Strategic Initiatives

Jamie Manser holds a B.A. from the University of Arizona in Journalism, with a minor in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. She is currently working on her masters in liberal studies with an emphasis in communication and social change. She's been a Tucsonan for more than 30 years and her diverse career background includes working for the Tucson Weekly, the Downtown Tucson Partnership, KXCI 91.3FM, Zocalo Magazine, 2nd Saturdays Downtown, Daniel J. Rylander P.C., UArizona’s Confluencenter for Creative Inquiry, and Watershed Management Group.

Within those organizations and businesses, she was a writer, editor, photographer, promotions manager, events coordinator, talent booker, publicist, social media manager, staff supervisor, website manager, fundraiser, community coordinator, and advocate; skills she combines in her position with the Psychiatry Department. 

As the Manger of Program Innovation and Strategic Initiatives, Jamie leads the development, implementation, promotion, and scaling of existing and future Psychiatry Department initiatives that are in alignment with the College of Medicine - Tucson and Banner Health's tripartite mission (clinical, education, and research). In this role, she works to ensure the growth, expansion, and implementation of mental health education and services that connect with the Department's dedication to social justice, anti-racism, and serving a diverse community. Other responsibilities include supporting the Chair in special projects, leading faculty recruitment efforts, overseeing strategic planning, overseeing event planning, as well as supervising and mentoring the multi-media designer. Jamie reports to the Chair Jordan Karp, MD.

She is honored to be a part of the Department of Psychiatry due to her interests in mental health, neuroscience, and how brain mechanics influence the body, mind, and emotions.
