Jose was born in Falls Church, VA and raised in Trujillo, Peru. Following high school graduation, he moved to the United States to pursue his education and training in medicine. He enjoys drawing on his cultural background to connect with patients and values the opportunity psychiatry provides to understand each person’s story in the context of their life experiences.
Outside of medicine, Jose enjoys playing soccer, hiking, cooking, and watching movies as ways to maintain balance during residency. He loves exploring new places, whether traveling with his family or discovering local history and culture closer to home. In the kitchen, he especially enjoys, preparing meals that blend his Peruvian roots with new influences he has picked up along the way. Jose values empathy and cultural awareness in patient care and strives to bring curiosity, trust, and compassion into every interaction.
