An Iowa native, Maya earned a BS in Biology and a certificate in Creative Writing from the University of Iowa. She received her graduate and medical degrees from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She has been involved with research projects spanning topics in immunology, resident wellness, and empathy. She is passionate about teaching. Her professional interests include child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy. Outside of work, she enjoys playing volleyball, going hiking, reading, and exploring the sights, sounds, and flavors of Tucson.
