Thomas grew up in Houston, TX, and went on to earn his Bachelor's in neuroscience and minors in English and poetry at the University of Texas at Austin. Wanting to bridge the sciences and humanities, he then completed an M.S. in narrative medicine at Columbia University prior to attending medical school at Texas A&M University School of Medicine. His academic interests include general adult psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, cultural psychiatry, LGBTQIA+ psychiatry, medical humanities, and the philosophy of psychiatry. In his free time, Thomas enjoys reading and writing poetry and creative nonfiction, anything outdoors, and exploring the food scene in Tucson.
