Delirium in the 21st Century: A Clinically Focused Review

Learning Objectives:
- Describe the impact of delirium on patients, patient care, and healthcare systems.
- Appreciate the range of possible pathophysiological routes to delirium and the potential implications for care.
- Use the model of delirium disorder clinically to address a broad range of clinical targets in treating patients with and at risk for delirium: cognitive resilience, precipitants, neuropsychiatric disturbances, and relevant pathophysiology.
The educational objective of Psychiatry Grand Rounds is to provide mental health professionals with updates on psychiatric topics with the goals of increasing knowledge, competence, and patient care. Psychiatry Grand Rounds are held on Wednesdays (September-May) from 12 to 1 p.m.
