Childhood Callous-Unemotional Traits and the Power of Parenting

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define Callous-Unemotional (CU) traits in youth, including conceptual relations to adult psychopathy and current representation in the DSM-5. 
  2. Review theorized models of etiology and treatment for CU with a focus on parenting behavior. 
  3. Demonstrate understanding of adaptations to established parenting interventions aimed at improving treatment outcomes for youth presenting with CU

Parent Acceptability of Function Based Treatment for Childhood Challenging Behavior in Hispanic Families

  1. Define function-based treatment
  2. Discuss Hispanic children and treatment accessibility
  3. Understand parental stress related to challenging behavior
  4. Explore cultural diversity and parental treatment acceptability
  5. Review case study from exploratory study

The educational objective for Psychiatry Grand Rounds is to provide mental health professionals with updates on psychiatric topics with the goals of increasing knowledge, competence, and patient care. Psychiatry Grand Rounds are held on Wednesdays (September-May) from 12 to 1 p.m.
