Not Just Depression: Identifying and Treating Demoralization in Cancer Patients

Learning Outcomes:

  • Define and differentiate demoralization from depression and adjustment disorders using diagnostic criteria and discuss clinical scales used for demoralization. 
  • Identify risk factors and clinical signs of demoralization in cancer patients.  
  • Discuss evidence-based interventions and treatments to enhance psychological resilience in oncology settings.

Trauma: Expanding Our Focus

  • Consider a broader definition of clinically impactful trauma.
  • Consider ways to incorporate screening for clinically impactful trauma.
