Getting Better Sleep May Make it Easier to Stick to a Weight-loss Plan

Michael Grandner, PhD, MTR, CBSM, FAASMA study presented at the American Heart Association's Epidemiology, Prevention, Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health conference in Boston on Friday revealed that individuals with good sleep habits were more likely to adhere to exercise and diet plans while attempting to lose weight compared to those with poor sleep health. However, the results are still preliminary and need to be published in a peer-reviewed journal for further assessment.

The recent study highlights that sleep is not only linked to weight but also associated with our efforts to manage weight, according to Michael Grandner, who heads the Sleep and Health Research Program at the University of Arizona in Tucson. "This study indicates that sleep is interconnected with the weight management strategies we adopt," he explained.
