For #WomenInMedicineMonth, we are pleased to both highlight and warmly welcome to our department Casey Rasmussen, PsyD.
Dr. Rasmussen is an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry and a clinical health and performance licensed psychologist at the Banner – University Medicine Behavioral Health Pavilion outpatient clinic. She helps patients 16 years and older understand how our mental and emotional states affect various aspects of our lives.
Using evidence-based practices and current research, she aims to act as a guide to her patients and believes that patients very often hold the answers; sometimes they simply need help finding them. Dr. Rasmussen gently challenges her patients to dig deeper while reassuring them they are psychologically safe in the moment; most importantly, not alone.
Why she chose this career:
"I always knew I wanted to be a doctor, but my path led me to mental and behavioral health. Working in a substance use clinic affirmed my calling. I'm passionate about supporting people through both deep struggles and personal growth; I truly love helping others heal and thrive."
What continues to inspire her:
"I'm inspired by the resilience of people, those navigating deep pain and those striving to grow. Helping others feel seen, heard, and empowered keeps me grounded in purpose. Witnessing transformation, even in small steps, is extraordinary and reminds me why I love this work."
