Excerpt from the nomination letter: "Dr. Ranjbar has led efforts in providing mentorship, supervision, and training in performing culturally congruent, trauma-informed psychiatric evaluations for asylum seekers since 2015. As the lead psychiatrist with the U of A COM-T Asylum Clinic for the Underserved Peoples (CUP) Program, she has mentored more than 100 medical students and residents over the past 7 years. In her work as a clinical psychiatrist at BUMCS, nearly ¼ of her patients are Farsi-speaking refugees, asylees, or immigrants. As the only Farsi-speaking psychiatrist in Tucson and the UA/Banner system, Dr. Ranjbar provides cares for UA Farsi-speaking graduate and undergraduate students, as well as their families and friends who seek a culturally congruent and/or integrative approach to their mental health care. Through collaborations with the Lovell Foundation, The Center for Mind-Body Medicine, the NoVo Foundation, and the Wayfarer Foundation, she has supported the professional training of more than 100 Arizonans and an additional 70 individuals nationally since 2021, with a focus on indigenous and American Indian communities and those professionals serving these communities."
